Lužiny

Lužiny is the name of the neighbourhood and it can be translated as "Flooded forest" or Riparian forest. The station is located in the central part of "Southwest Town" - a large area of apartement blocks in the southwest of Prague, served by five metro stations (Nové Butovice, Hůrka, Lužiny, Luka and Stodůlky) and several bus routes.
Lužiny was built in 1994 as a part of the V.B section, which connected the former terminus Nové Butovice with Zličín, where also a new depot for line B was built. The station itself was built using cut-and-cover method and its roof is supported by two rows of pillars. Despite the platform is 7 metres below the surface, it is has natural light thanks to three skylights in the ceiling. The station has one ticket hall on the eastern end.
